About
L'intenzione del volo
L'intenzione del volo was born from a knot in the stomach. It is December 2012, and being twenty-three in Italy makes you want only two things: to scream, and to find someone who has words for your cry.
Andrea Faccioli, who had been involved in theatre in Emilia-Romagna for years, finds his words in the texts and verses of Giorgio Gaber, and decides to bring back on stage his deeply anthropological and contemporary thought.
The project takes shape thanks to the encounter with Davide Villani and Elisa Gazzelli, two extraordinary musicians capable of arranging with care and originality the complicated melodic lines of Signor G. Together, the three push each other toward an ever deeper quality and awareness of Gaber's work, to offer the audience compasses to decipher the present. The first show to go on stage is Qui l'uomo muore.
In 2014, during the Gaber Festival, a strong and prolific collaboration begins with the Fondazione Giorgio Gaber, as well as a wonderful friendship with president Paolo Dal Bon, Dalia Gaber, vice-president and daughter of Giorgio, and Gian Piero Alloisio. In December of the same year, the company stages Incontrando il Signor G, experimenting with an interaction between live performance and projected images: during the event in Imola, Paolo Dal Bon joins them on stage in a packed room of enthusiastic audience.
In 2015-16 the trio produces the new show Come persone, composed of a set of Gaber texts exploring human relationships in all their forms and expressions — including Quando è moda è moda, La Cosa, La comune, Non è più il momento, L'orgia, L'algebra.
In summer 2016 the formation changes, with Elisa's departure and the entrance of bassist and double bassist Iader Berti. In the following years the company brings Signor G's works to the stage in dozens of dates, especially in the province of Bologna, in Romagna, and at the Gaber Festivals in Camaiore.
Since 2019, L'intenzione del volo also establishes a wonderful collaboration with the women of Consorzio Alimentare, with whom they perform both Gaber and shows with music by Fabrizio De André.
In 2023, during the floods in Romagna, Andrea meets Raffaello Petti, his fellow countryman with a passion for writing. They recognize each other and meet in a cellar in Faenza while holding the same refrigerator; in the following weeks they become "mud companions" and joke about writing a show together.
In February 2024, Andrea and Raffaello cross paths again while both traveling in Thailand. From a thought jotted on a piece of paper, a first theatrical piece takes shape in a few hours, Sisifo felice; in the following three days, unable to stop writing, they draft an entire show, later refined and polished in the following months, which takes its name from the first piece written together.
Sisifo Felice is the first entirely original music theatre show by L'intenzione del volo.
